Kids need to be taught to wash properly – wherever they are!
It’s a common enough scenario in many playgroups and nursery school: outdoor play is important to any child’s development and essential for their health and wellbeing. There is no doubt however, that they will get dirty hands, picking up leaves, making mud pies and so on.
Kids will of course take part in organised activities, but sometimes will invent a few less savoury ones of their own..!
Which brings us to hand washing – which is frequently described as “the most important lesson a child can learn”. And for good reason!
There are two vital elements in the hand washing cycle for young children to make sure that they get to grips with the whole soap and water thing in the first place:-
1) Teaching hand washing. How to do it properly – and for the right amount of time to be effective – and when to do it. Most notably before eating, after going to the toilet, when their hands are visibly dirty and of course when coming in from outside play.
2) Supervision. Ensuring that they wash their hands properly, whenever they’re supposed to.
There is actually a very important third element in the equation: that of having suitable handwash stations available where they’re actually needed.
An obvious “hygiene barrier”, as it were, is to provide mobile sinks at the point where they re-enter the nursery. This isn’t always possible of course and can often be expensive and impractical.
The obvious solution is to provide mobile and portable hand wash sinks for children. Products such as Teal’s KiddiSynk and Kiddiwash units have been designed especially for smaller hands and are easy to use, are robust and easy to clean.
And, importantly, it’s really easy to place them exactly where they will be of the most use…
Teach children effective hand washing techniques with portable sinks that can go anywhere – indoors or out
The Kiddiwash range of warm water hand wash units are perfect for smaller hands – and are ideal where a portable solution is required.
Whether you require a larger wheeled unit such as the KiddiSynk, or the ultra portable Kiddiwash Xtra, you can ensure that all children in your care are able to wash their hands whether inside or out.
