Further support for the Outdoor Play and Learning Coalition Position Statement

As many local authorities in Scotland actively look to increase levels of outdoor learning, Scotland’s Outdoor Play and Learning Coalition Position Statement is rapidly gathering support from across the country, according to a recent report on the Nursey World website (subscription required).

The aim is to make both learning and play out of doors “an everyday activity”. It has now been more widely recognised than ever that “…understanding and focus on the connection between the outdoors and children’s mental health has never been more needed” stated the article’s author Nicole Weinstein.

“Playing and learning outdoors is fast-becoming a fundamental part of growing up in Scotland, following a national commitment from more than 100 organisations and people across the country.”

COSLA is the latest in a line of signatories which to date includes the Scottish Government, Inspiring Scotland, NHS Health Scotland the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland and Glasgow Science Centre, says the report.
