Care during coronavirus pandemic acknowledged

The teaching of proper handwashing techniques is the most important thing that can be taught to children – particularly as the world find itself in the grip of the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Which is why the recent achievements of a preschool group in Scotland are all the more important, according to a recent report on the Evening Express website.

Fun 4 Kidz, a preschool group at Port Erroll School, is provided by Aberdeenshire Council, according to report author

A recent Care Inspectorate visit resulted in praise for the quality and focus of the group’s approach to the pandemic in “…the way it dealt with coronavirus protection measures like social distancing for staff, hand washing and providing ventilation.”

The importance of hand washing

Children were regularly supervised when they washed their hands, and the message was reinforced by the provision of a number of posters which encouraged good hygiene.

“Children had been helped to understand the importance of good-handwashing in preventing the spread of infection and to do this often throughout the session.”

Even snack routines have been amended and resources managed in order to avoid cross-infection wrote Proctor.
